Local Transport

To get around the Ruhr region, moving between the different ISEA2010 RUHR venues, we would like to provide you with information about the local transport possibilities.

Public Transport

With Full Professional and Symposium Passes, public transport from/to the festival venues can be used for free with the regional transport provider Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Ruhr (VRR). The Regional-Express (RE) railroad lines RE1, RE6 and RE11 connect the cities of Dortmund, Essen, Duisburg (and Düsseldorf Airport) on a regular basis, usually operating 3 times an hour. In addition, the S-Bahn S1 is in service. The S-Bahn stops more frequently and is slower. Please be aware: There are connections at night, but on weekdays there is no steady service between approximately 1h and 3h a.m.!

For more information please see the website of the Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Ruhr (VRR)

Train Connections

German Rail Deutsche Bahn operates InterCity (IC) and InterCityExpress (ICE) connections between the cities of the Ruhr region. Please note that these trains are more expensive than RE trains and S-Bahn. Transport with these trains is not included in regular VRR-tickets. These are more comfortable but barely faster than RE trains.
