The Skulpturenmuseum Glaskasten Marl (Marl sculpture museum Glaskasten) has a permanent collection of twentieth century and contemporary sculptures, and presents temporary exhibitions on diverse aspects of sculpture. Another thematic pillar at the museum is media art. Since 1984 the Marl Video Art Award has been presented every two years, in 1998 the first the Video-Installation Prize was added, and since 2000, in cooperation with Kulturradio WDR3 and the Initiative Hören (Hearing Initiative) of Glaskasten museum, the German Sound Art Award has been realised bi-annually.

On Sunday 22 August at 11 o'clock, the opening of the German Sound Art Award exhibition is taking place at the museum. In addition to the works of award winners, who each created a site-specific sound installation for Marl, the concepts and work of seven nominees will be presented. The exhibition runs until 3 October 2010.
